Tagging system

Tag any chapter, character, note, or beat with a shared, project-wide set of tags to group things that don't otherwise sit near each other.

Tags are a project-wide way to group things that live in different parts of your manuscript tree, character gallery, notes, or Plot Board. Anything that shares a tag shows up together, regardless of where it actually sits.

Adding a tag

From any chapter, character, note, or beat, add a tag by typing its name. If the tag already exists in your project, it’s reused; if not, it’s created.

Use tags to group across the project

Tags group things a folder structure can’t — every scene told from a particular point of view, say. Since tags cut across your manuscript tree and character gallery rather than living inside either one, they’re a good fit for anything that spans both.

On the Plot Board, tags also do a job structure can’t. A beat sits in one part and one subplot, but it can carry any number of tags, so “needs work” or “check the dates here” can live on a beat without competing with where it actually belongs in the story.
