Badges & challenges

Earn badges for consistency, milestones, craft, and sharing; join a dated writing challenge with your own goal and print a certificate when you make it.

As you write, you earn badges, and you can join a challenge while one is running. You’ll find both on the Badges page in your dashboard.

Badges

Most badges are earned once and stay with you, but a few can be earned again each time you repeat the achievement. Badges fall into six sets:

  • Streaks: Earn badges for 3, 7, 30, 100, and 365-day writing streaks, your first rest day, saving a streak with a rest day, and for reaching five goal days in a row without needing a rest day.
  • Milestones: Earn badges for typing 1,000, 5,000, 25,000, 50,000, and 100,000 words in a single project, and for marking a book’s draft as complete with The End (on the book’s page). In shared projects, every co-author earns the milestone. Reviewers do not.
  • Craft: Earn badges for creating your first character, location, note, board, and plot beat, as well as for filing a beat under a chapter or scene, creating a scene card, and exporting.
  • Sharing: Earn badges for sending a draft, having a reader finish it, promoting a reader’s note into the manuscript, getting five readers in one round, and closing a round.
  • Seasonal: Earn badges for writing on special days like New Year’s Day, Valentine’s Day, Leap Day, and Halloween.
  • Challenges: See the section below for details.

The badges you can earn multiple times include Five in a row (for every streak of five goal days), 1,000-word and 2,000-word days, Big week (5,000 words from Monday to Sunday), and the seasonal badges, which return once a year. These badges show a ×N tally on their medallion instead of a date.

When you earn a badge, a card pops up right away, no matter where you are in the studio, and stays until you close it. You’ll see the same card when you hit your daily goal. Badges earned in the example project do not count.

On the Badges page, the badges you’ve earned appear in color with the date, while the rest are grayed out and show how to unlock them. Badges earned once have a Share button that creates an image card for Bluesky or X. Badges with a ×N tally do not, since there isn’t a single date for those.

Challenges

A challenge is a date range, and you pick your own word goal when you join. November Draft is the first challenge. Any word count works. 50,000 is the classic, but a goal you can realistically reach is the better one.

When you join, Endra Studio calculates the daily pace needed to reach your goal and suggests setting it as your daily goal. It is a suggestion, and it does not change your settings on its own.

If a challenge you haven’t joined is running or about to start when you create your first book from the welcome screen, you’re asked whether to join it before the book opens, with your new book already chosen for the certificate. Joining there skips the daily-goal suggestion. You can set your daily goal any time, as Writing goals and streaks explains.

During a challenge, your dashboard displays your progress, how many days are left, and the pace you need to keep up. You can earn badges for joining, reaching 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100% of your own goal, and for writing every day of the challenge. Each year’s challenge has its own set of badges.

When you reach your goal, a printable certificate with your name, book, and word count appears on the challenge card and on the 100% badge. You can use your browser’s print dialog to save it as a PDF.

Every Sunday, the weekly recap email includes your challenge pace.
