Editor preferences

Set your default font, paragraph style, editor width, zoom level, and spelling dialect. These apply everywhere you write, not per document.

A handful of preferences control how the editor looks and feels across every document you open.

Font

Choose from six fonts: Georgia, Merriweather, Lora, EB Garamond, Inter, and Courier Prime.

Paragraph style

Two options:

• Block: paragraphs separated by spacing, no first-line indent.
• Manuscript: first-line indentation, no spacing between paragraphs, matching standard manuscript submission format.

Exports to .docx use Standard Manuscript Format whichever style you write with.

Editor width

Narrow, standard, or wide. Controls how much of the screen the editor’s text column uses, independent of your browser window size.

Zoom

100%, 125%, 150%, 175%, or 200%. Scales the editor’s text size without affecting your operating system’s overall zoom.

Spelling dialect

Which English the spell checker holds you to: American, British, Canadian, or Australian. Pick British and colour stops being flagged; pick American and it starts again.

This is your personal default, so it applies to every project you open. It’s kept on this device rather than your account, so set it again on a new device or after you sign out. A single manuscript can override it from that project’s own settings, which is the better choice when one book follows a different standard from the rest of your work. Change your editor preferences

Font, paragraph style, editor width, zoom, and spelling dialect all live under your account’s editor settings and take effect immediately. All but the dialect follow your account to every device. Saving needs a connection; the page says so and waits if you’re offline.
