Exporting to Markdown

Every chapter, scene, and note is included as a plain Markdown file inside the full project export.

Markdown files come as part of the full project export; there’s no separate Markdown-only download.

Getting your manuscript as Markdown

Markdown comes as part of the full project export. From your project’s home page, under Snapshots & export, select Download next to Export Project Data. Inside the archive, every chapter, scene, and note includes a content.md file: its text with headings, bold, italics, and lists converted to their Markdown equivalents, organized in folders that mirror your manuscript tree.

When to use the Markdown files

Markdown is the format to reach for if you keep your manuscript under version control, want a backup readable in any editor, or are moving to a tool that reads Markdown.
