Exporting to Markdown
Export your manuscript as plain Markdown, a lightweight option for version control, plain-text backups, or moving to another tool.
Not every use case needs a formatted Word document. Sometimes plain text is exactly what you want.
Exporting
From the Export page in the sidebar, choose Markdown and select Export. Your manuscript downloads as CommonMark-formatted text, with headings, bold, italics, and lists converted to their Markdown equivalents.
Good use cases for Markdown
Keeping a manuscript under version control, backing it up in a format that will always be readable regardless of what software exists later, or moving into another writing tool that reads Markdown natively.
