Your Novel Deserves
a Studio, Not a Text Editor

Endra Studio is now in beta, and access is free while in beta

The writing environment designed for novelists. Your manuscript, plan, characters, and beta readers in one place — and free while we're in beta.

Features

Built for the Way
Novelists Think

Every feature is built for long-form storytelling: writing it, planning it, and getting it in front of readers.

Write

The manuscript, and everything that keeps you in it.

Manuscript Navigator

Your novel as a tree of parts, chapters, and scenes you drag to reorder, with word counts at every level. A series lives in one project, book by book.

The Editor

A clean page with slash commands, inline images, and spell check that learns your invented words. Focus Mode hides the interface; Typewriter Mode holds your line in place.

Goals & Streaks

Set a daily word-count target and a goal for any chapter or part. A heatmap shows when you write, and your streak builds as you hit it.

Offline-First

Keep writing when the Wi-Fi doesn’t. Your work saves to your device and syncs on its own when you’re back online.

Plan

The thinking that happens before, beside, and between the chapters.

Plot Board

Your book drawn to scale: a column for each part, holding its chapters, scenes, and the beats you planned among them. Start from a known structure, then drag a card to change where it happens.

Characters & Locations

Profiles with aliases, traits, relationships, and a gallery. Want, Need, Wound, Lie, and Truth give every character an arc, and every scene that names them appears on their page.

Boards

An open canvas for the thinking that comes before structure. Sticky notes, images, shapes, tables, and live cards for your characters, scenes, and locations, arranged until the shape appears.

Notes & Wikilinks

A research notebook beside the manuscript. Link notes with [[wikilinks]], tag anything, and every backlink surfaces on its own.

Share & protect

Other people, and the safety net under all of it.

Beta Readers & Editors

Send a frozen draft to readers with one link. They read in a paginated reader, react to paragraphs, leave notes, and answer your questions, and you see where they stopped.

Real-Time Collaboration

Invite a co-author and write in the same document at the same time, edits merging as you type. Reviewers comment in threads without touching your prose.

Version History & Snapshots

Every writing session leaves a version you can restore if a rewrite goes wrong. Snapshot the whole project before a big edit.

Export & Own Your Data

Export a .docx in Standard Manuscript Format, or download the whole project as an archive of plain files. Your manuscript is yours.

Plot Board

Your book, drawn to scale

A column for each part, holding its chapters, scenes, and the beats you planned among them. Attach a beat to the chapter where it happens and the gaps in your plan show too.

Beta readers & editors

See where they stopped

Send a frozen draft with one link. The Overview shows how far each reader got, which passages they reacted to, and what they answered, and every note links to the page it was left on.

A draft round overview: reader progress by chapter, hotspots, reader notes and survey answers
Boards

Thinking before structure

Sticky notes, images, shapes and tables on an open canvas, next to live cards for your characters, scenes and locations. Arrange them until the shape appears, then save the layout as a template.

Questions

What does "free during beta" mean?
Every account is on the Studio plan, free, while Endra Studio is in beta — collaboration, beta readers, everything. When the beta ends we will tell you well before anything is charged, and you choose which plan to keep; early users get a thank-you on the way out of beta.
How does the free trial work?
After launch, Writer and Studio start with two weeks free for new accounts. You can cancel at any point during the trial and pay nothing. Beta accounts already have Studio, so there is nothing to trial until the beta ends.
Can I cancel?
Yes, at any time. You keep the plan until the end of the period you have paid for, and nothing is deleted when it ends.
What happens if I downgrade to Free?
Nothing is deleted. Your projects stay readable and exportable; you can keep writing in one of them, up to the Free limits, and the rest wait for you.
Does Endra Studio use AI?
Only if you turn it on, and never to write for you. AI is off for every project until you switch it on in that project’s settings; leave it off and no AI reads any part of your project. With it on, an assistant can answer questions about your story from your characters, outline and chapter summaries (not your prose), and search can find a passage by what happens in it. We believe in the human art of writing; it is not our intention to ever offer AI that writes for you or to become a slop engine. AI never changes your work, and nobody trains AI models on your writing. We also use AI to help run support, and it never sees your project content.
Is the storage limit a hard cap?
Yes. It covers the images you upload, and once it is reached new uploads are declined until you free some space. Everything you have already uploaded stays where it is; nothing is deleted. Settings → Billing shows how much you are using.
